A traditional highlight of the ‘Tag der Sachsen’ is the official association medal, which is specially minted for each festival and issued by the Saxon Numismatic Society. This year’s medal, produced by the 1st Dresden Medal Mint, was presented to the public for the first time in early April as part of a press conference.

Dr. Rudolph Reimann, President of the Saxon Numismatic Society, expressed his enthusiasm: “This festival medal represents Sebnitz as the host city in an outstanding manner. The design is a special highlight within our medal series, as it required the highest precision and artistic skill from the die cutter.”

The front of the medal bears the motto ‘To Blossoming Experiences!’ and an artistically designed flower band – a tribute to the long tradition of Sebnitz’s artificial flower craftsmanship. The reverse shows the official festival logo as well as the characteristic city view with the market square.

Dr. Reimann was even moved to use the superlative “this is the most beautiful ‘Tag der Sachsen’ medal that has ever existed”.

From now on, the coveted collector’s item is available in fine silver, imperial tin, and gold-plated bronze at the Sebnitz Tourist Information Office.
